Years skiing: since I was 1 1/2
Resort you grew up at: Crotched Mtn,
NH
Favorite ski resort: Crested Butte, Alta, Whistler,
Jackson Hole and the Backcountry
Favorite sports: Surfing, Mtn Biking, Iyengar Yoga, Bike Touring
Hobbies: Traveling, Reading,
Music you listen to: Death By Cutie, Rage Against the Machine,
Favorite books: 1000 Splendid Suns, I, Rigoberta Menchu
Favorite meal: Thanksgiving Dinner
Favorite thing to do on the weekend or when relaxing: eat a huge breakfast, ride
my bike, backcountry ski or surf all day, order a yummy delivered pizza and watch movies while eating organic Ben and Jerry’s.
Most frequently visited website: I use the web primarily for research, especially
on climate change.
Where do you see yourself in 10 years: I will be a national and international
spokesperson for solutions to global warming, using extreme sports, such as freesking as my platform. I hope to change the
world – save our snow and planet.
Greatest achievement (professionally/personally): Winning the Freeskiing World
Cup Championships, breaking into the male dominated MSP/TGR ski film scene and showing that girls can kick ass; being selected
by Powder Magazine as one of the 40 most influential skiers; being selected by Al Gore for the first 50 for the Climate Project;
being selected by Outside Magazine as one of 23 Green All Stars next to Leonardo Dicaprio.
Favorite aspect about Head Thang skis: I like their playfulness and ease of skiing
combined with the torsional stiffness (twisting) which gives them unprecedented edge hold.
Reason for Joining the Head Women’s Team: For my whole ski career I wanted
women’s skis “designed for women by women”. The Head Women’s Team is a dream come true, especially
when we design skis with women from all over the world, working together to create something truly unique and special.
Where do you want to see the products go in the future: I’m looking forward
to the day when Head Women’s skis are 50% of all ski sales. I was told that skis for women would never work and also
that women would never equal sales in men’s product. I love proving people wrong!
Words you live by: Right now I don’t
have a quote, but I just got back from the third world, and I’m feeling blessed to have the life I have. We don’t
appreciate little things – like clean, cool, safe drinking water, down comforters, a roof over our heads, and the abundance
of food we have. And also the big things – like the right to vote, work the jobs we love, all while having free time
to do fun things like ski powder and surf waves…. We are so lucky.
